Happy Thanksgiving from LTP!
On Saturday, LTP held a celebratory early Thanksgiving dinner for our students and families held at a restaurant outside of Manchester. After a lovely turkey dinner was enjoyed by all and a moment taken to reflect upon and share some of the things we are all grateful for, the guys took turns to share a few stories of their time over in the UK and discuss what had surprised them about their experiences so far. These stories included surprise at how welcoming and friendly the British had been, how high and competitive the standard of lacrosse is across the pond and the drinking and partying habits and the similarities between the two cultures!
After sharing dinner and drinks on the Saturday, a number of the current students joined LTP Founder Sam Russell and Camp Director Mike Bartlett in journeying into Manchester the following day to visit and experience Manchester’s world-renowned Christmas Markets.
After a quick tourist and refreshment pit-stop at The Circus Tavern, officially the smallest bar in Europe, the boys headed into the markets to sample some gluhwein, bratwurst and a few steins of German lager and take a look around the 1,000’s of stalls who travel from all over Europe to sell their goods including gifts, crafts, jewellery, clothes, toys and an array of food and drink with everything from Dutch mini pancakes to Hungarian goulash, Spanish paella to French profiteroles, all washed down with German lager and mulled wine.
The weekend was a great opportunity for our students, coming from all over the UK, to meet each other and share tales of their experiences so far during their LTP journey. A great time was had by all and we look forward to the next LTP team activity where no doubt more stories will be shared and memories will be made.
