Hey everyone, a lot has been going on up here in Newcastle since returning victoriously from the Easter 8’s down in Manchester. Have to thank the LTP and Manchester crew again for hosting me down for the weekend it was an absolute blast. Upon returning to the Toon, the lax season has had a few wrap up events for two teams up here. The Newcastle Knights had their end of season awards and race night. The Newcastle University players cleaned up on the awards raking in four of the awards. I was lucky enough to be awarded the Men’s Player of the Year and Best Single Game Performance for the team. So the LTP boys are doing quite well this year taking home two MVP awards for their respected clubs (well done Mike). After finishing up the Knights year, I helped to arrange the first ever Alumni Charity Tournament up here in Newcastle involving Newcastle Uni and our rivals Northumbria. Oddly enough the sun even managed to break through the rain for the even where we had roughly 30 players making up the four teams (Newcastle, Oldcastle Alum, Northumbria, and Poly Alum). The current Newcastle team took home the Alumni Memorial Shield over Oldcastle. Hopefully this will become a mainstay for showcasing lacrosse in the North East for years to come.
Now as for the rest of the year (can’t believe how fast it’s gone by) I just have to finish up some papers and my dissertation before sorting out what’s next in life. Luckily I’m going to also get some travel and summer lacrosse in the mix to break up the school work. I’m really excited to be headed to Austria for the Vienna Open with team Dread Lax. It sounds like it’ll be a heck of a time. Well that’s about all for now from here in Newcastle, take it easy everyone.
